According to the “Road Code of the Republic of Albania”, persons with disabilities can obtain Special Vehicle Licences categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B and EU for:
– 5 years, if issued or confirmed for persons up to age 60 years old;
– 3 years for persons over 60 years old

Special vehicle licenses, issued to persons with disabilities, of categories C1, C1E, C and CE, are valid for:
– 5 years, if issued or confirmed for persons up to 50 years of age
– 3 years, when its holder is over 50 years old

These permits are not renewed after the age of 65. Holders of vehicle driving licences after  80 years of age should renew the validity of the driving license every year under reviewing physical and mental condition by the relevant medical commissions.

Article 124 4. Special vehicle licences

Persons with disabilities with a special driving license of categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, C1, C even can drive vehicles towing a trailer, the maximum authorized mass of which does not exceed 750 kg.
However, persons with disabilities may not drive taxis, rented vehicles for the transport of people or in line of services, ambulances and vehicles used in the transport of dangerous goods.
