People with disabilities can obtain a driving licence under the conditions of a medical examination approving their suitability to drive motor vehicles with equipment aids. (e.g. glasses, seat cushions)
According to the medical examination, should the concerned person be suitable for driving only a particular type of motor vehicle, the vehicle has to be officially registered and indicated on the driving licence.
In general, the rules of the country of origin are also accepted in Austria if the driver is only visiting the Country with his/her own or rented car. If he/she hires a car in Austria or stays permanently, then the Austrian law will be applied.
