Get Into Motorsports

Thanks to advancements in technology and the dedication of the FIA, motorsport is becoming increasingly accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability.

In motorsport, the only limits are the ones you set for yourself—disability does not need to be a barrier to participation

A Sport Without Limits

Motorsport is one of the few disciplines where adaptive technologies can level the playing field. Modified vehicles, hand controls, and innovative racing equipment allow drivers with disabilities to compete on equal terms. Whether it’s karting, rallying, or circuit racing, motorsport provides an outlet for individuals to embrace their competitive spirit and test their skills.

Inclusive Racing Programs

Several initiatives across the globe are tailored to help individuals with disabilities get involved in motorsport. Programs like the FIA Disability and Accessibility Commission work to create opportunities, develop inclusive regulations, and promote adaptive technologies. National motorsport organizations (ASNs) often have resources and events designed for disabled drivers, offering entry points to grassroots and competitive racing.

Success Stories and Role Models

Motorsport is a platform where determination and passion overcome barriers, and few embody this spirit more than Nathalie McGloin and Alex Zanardi. Both are powerful examples of how individuals with disabilities can excel at the highest levels of this demanding sport.

Nathalie McGloin, the first quadriplegic racing driver to compete in a Porsche, is not only a trailblazer on the track but also a leader off it. As President of the FIA’s Disability and Accessibility Commission, she works tirelessly to make motorsport more inclusive, paving the way for others to follow their racing dreams, regardless of physical challenges.

Alex Zanardi’s story is equally inspiring. A former Formula 1 driver, Zanardi lost both legs in a racing accident but made an extraordinary comeback. He transitioned to Paralympic cycling, winning multiple gold medals, and returned to motorsport, competing successfully in modified race cars. His resilience continues to inspire fans worldwide.

These role models remind us that motorsport is not just about speed—it’s about breaking boundaries, proving that determination and innovation can overcome any obstacle.
